Compression

Compression of the mixture makes the individual tracks take up less (dynamic) space without losing their noise impact. Beginning his mixing, start conservatively with the configuration of the compressor: the attack and release should be relatively quick, set the ratio of 2:1 or 3:1, and set the threshold for that only the peaks are increasingly the top and be "tight". You've probably heard the phrase "Punchy Mix." Stereo compression is a key element to make the mixture more "claw." EQ'ing the stereo bus - the two cables that channel all the different sounds of your mixer to your 2-track recorder - is usually discouraged. Since this equation involves the whole signal from its low to its lead vocalist, and everything else in the mix, which is which may affect some sounds that was not his intention. For example, if you decide that the mixture is no bottom, try adding a little here and there (in bass, kick, toms or whatever you need).

If you add the lower end of the mix of everything, you are also adding to the vocals, drums, percussion, etc. eq'ing general is best left to the domain engineer, who did not have the luxury of dealing with individual tracks, but has trained specifically to their ears for the art of the overall equation.
