Electric Guitar Pickup
what's the difference between neck spacing and bridge spacing on an electric guitar pickup?

electric guitars have pickups - one close to the neck and one close to the tremolo. is the tremolo pickup the one they're calling the bridge? do they sound different?

The one closest to the tremolo is the bridge pickup. In fact, the tremolo IS a bridge.

Anyway, the pickups are likely exactly the same. The reason that they make a different sound is where they "pick up" the vibrations from the strings. The neck pickup will sound a little louder and have a lot more tone because the strings vibrate a lot more near the neck than they do near the bridge where they are held "still" by the bridge saddle (where the string touches the bridge).
