How do I prevent my guitar making brake pedal sounds?

I recently bought a pedal BEHRINGER DD400 Deley and the echo and the delay is perfect, but when the channel is clear in its not very clean and clear? and the only sound that sometimes good. Has anyone suggested that the problem may be? Thanks would be a two amplifiers imput change anything?

Im Afraid its distortion just because your guitar is running through the pedal before the amp, which naturally affects the sound because the signal has to travel farther, pedal is the most expensive technology to fight it, but if not, then you will have a different tone to be connected directly to the amplifier
